Experiencing the "B's" of Britian.

British Museum and Bloomsbury?! These places may not be familiar to you, and I would have never ended up at either places if it had not been required for school...grateful for my BYU education? Yes.
We are required to go on walks that take us through London, I might have mentioned this before but the walk we did today was called Bloomsbury and it took us past the British Museum, which was brilliant because we had homework to complete. The British Museum is so large and overwhelming. It was fun to see parts of it on Monday, but even more neat to spend another hour and a half there today. We saw works form the Assyrians, Romans, and the Greeks. The outside of the museum is so large and reminds me of the Natural History Museum in Washington D.C.

After we were finished with the museum, we moved along in our walk through Bloomsbury. And there were actually blossoms on threes blooming believe it or not! Here is some information about it...
We first saw the British Museum and it was so fun stopping there to see so many neat things for just over an hour. We continued on our way and stopped in Russell Square Gardens to eat some lunch. The Hotel Russell right next the square is beautiful and has amazing architecture. I loved it that the English flag was flying right out front.

Then we came up on the shopping district and Bruswick Square. Though we did not stop to shop, it was a neat experience to see Captain Thomas Coram who did amazing things for this area in London. He was appalled at how many abandoned children there were in the city, so he started a hospital. I was amazed to see how many hospitals there were throughout the walk, I haven't seen one up to this point in being here.

Our next stop on the walk took us to St. George's square which was so green and beautiful. There were runners doing a relay there and we asked what it was for and the response we got?..."Healthy Living". I love that!! It was neat to see this group of people out working out together. The blossoms on the trees were pink and beautiful. We stopped and took a group photo in the square. The dog in the pictures is Piper! He wanted to be in the photo with us and was the dog of the man who kindly took the shot of the group.

The next big stop was at the home of Charles Dickens where he lived for 18 years of his life. In the top left hand corner of the photo is a plaque and the entrance is at the green door.

The last stop on our trip was at Downing Street. We saw a cute picture opportunity and had tons of fun looking at the shops and enjoyed what the street had to offer.

I loved the walks we have to take on this trip. It lets us get to know the city better and see things I would have never normally bothered to see!

We got back home and I think I am in for the night. Just after walking in it started to downpour rain and hail. Gotta love being inside with the windows open listening to the rain and not get caught in it...I consider myself lucky. It will be nice to have an evening like last night to catch up on homework and other things that need to be done before Monday! Nothing better than a night in sweats warm in front of the fireplace downstairs.

One fun fact...when the English ask you if you want bread..they ask if you want brown or white, they don't ever call it wheat! :]
